Why do people think P2P is so bad?

I know the whole, "it's stealing from the artists" but it's basically the same as shipping a CD someone bought over the entire world to their friends. artists should be happy people love their music and want to hear it. yeah, they will be out of a bit money, but a lot of people don't like having Limewire running on their computer. virus's and such. but it's a risk some people take. I don't use limewire. or anything like it. it just pissed me off people are making such a big deal out of it. could someone please explain to me why people hate it

Answer:First off, you can buy a cd and even make copies of it for YOUR OWN PERSONAL USE! If you knew the copyright laws on media, you would know that it explicitly says you CAN NOT copy them and pass them to your friends. Secondly, if you are so naive to believe all the people on file sharing sites are honest and dont have infections on their pcs, then download your brains out until you either get caught or infected so bad from malware that your pc wont even boot up, dont cry about it. Its YOUR own fault. Keep in mind, the files you download come from other peoples pcs and you are also opening your pc without even being aware that people are taking copywritten material off of yours and this means YOU are just as guilty if you get caught. I dont hate it by the way….as a matter of fact I get a chuckle out of all the idiots who use it to steal 5 bucks worth of music and pay a hundred to the repairman to get the funk they downloaded removed! That alone shows their ignorance! Its also a fact that more and more ISPs are not only blocking the sights but turning their customers in who keep stealing!

Answer:People are still buying the cd's but! some people don't for me p2p is bad because your download off another persons computer and p2p is the biggest reasons for viruses. if the person your downloading from has been downloading porn and got a virus you could get it. more and more people are tracked down for pirated stuff, fewer people are not doing it because the ISPs are currently monitoring their activities and illegal downloading of music just may begin to decline.

Answer:idk y they hate it you can download free songs from mp3raid.com and the website says it is legal so i trust them

Answer:1) It's really easy to get viruses using P2P software. I mean, would you willingly walk into a crowd of people infected with swine flu or worse? That's pretty much what you're doing when you use P2P programs.

2) Your argument for stealing music is a poor one at best. It's still stealing. It's still illegal. And your analogy that it's the same as "shipping the CD to your friends" isn't accurate. In your scenario, there is always just one copy of the CD and therefore only one person can enjoy the music at one time. Now, if you were to copy the CD so everyone had it, that would be illegal as well. I mean, why is it socially acceptable to steal music when fundamentally no different than stealing a car? By your logic, the only thing bad about stealing a car is that the person you stole it from is out some money and they should be happy you liked their car enough to steal it.

Anyway, there are better ways to get music, and with things like the radio and music as cheap as it is, there's really no reason to continue to steal music.
